The public has learned that Coca-Cola secretly funneled more than $1.5 million through a business association in order to block an initiative that would have required the labeling of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Now GMO labeling initiatives are developing in 29 states including Oregon and Vermont. We think it’s time for the company to stop fighting our right to know what’s in our food.

We’re engaging hundreds of thousands of people worldwide to spread the word about Coca-Cola’s secret campaign contributions, and encouraging people to boycott the brands they market as healthier alternatives until they change their ways.

In 2013, Coca-Cola secretly funneled more than $1.5 million dollars through the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) in order to block an initiative that would have required the labeling of genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

After the Washington State attorney general’s office threatened a lawsuit against GMA, the organization disclosed their financial backers, which included Coca-Cola.

In addition to its soft drinks, the company owns many brands marketed as healthier alternatives, including Honest Tea, Zico Coconut Water, Odwalla, Zico, Vitamin Water, Simply Orange, and Powerade.

According to Bloomberg News, these Coca-Cola brands played a major role in a 13% increase in their fourth-quarter profits in 2012.

We have a unique opportunity to boycott the Coca-Cola brands being marketed as healthier alternatives until they pledge to cease any and all financial contributions to anti-GMO labeling efforts.

Many companies, including Mars, Inc., have responded to consumer pressure and stopped giving money to fight GMO labeling. We are calling on Coca-Cola to join them, and want to urge everyone to help us make this happen.

Join over 230,000 people and sign our petition at urging Coca-Cola to stop funding efforts to block the labeling of GMOs.

Coca-Cola purchased the Honest brand several years ago, and they continue to produce the popular Honest Tea along with many other fruit drinks, and they are now producing a product line for children they are calling “Honest Kids.”

The Honest brand proudly doesn’t use GMOs in their products, and they have disclaimers throughout their website saying as much.

Coca-Cola owns one brand that proudly uses no GMOs, but they were caught secretly contributing over $1 million in 2013 to efforts to stop GMO labeling in Washington state.

Parents should know the facts about Honest Kids and Honest Tea. Profits from sale of this brand help parent company Coca-Cola to keep GMO labeling out of grocery stores. Their efforts are making it harder for parents to make smart choices for their children.

Help us spread the truth about Coca-Cola, their Honest Kids brand, and their work to try to prevent GMO labeling.
